100 million euros for Green Generation Fund

The capital is to be invested in start-ups that reduce CO2 emissions in the agricultural and food sector.
The Green Generation Fund (GGF) set up by founders Manon Littek and Janna Ensthaler has raised 100 million euros for investments in innovative start-ups. EUR 25 million of this comes from the European Investment Fund (EIF).
KfW Capital is supporting the fund with ten million euros. Private investors such as Florian Wendelstadt and family offices such as Kaltrocco, Burda and the SAP founding family Hopp are also investing.
The fund is intended to promote food and greentechs in Germany, Europe and the USA. The aim of the funding is to reduce CO2 emissions in the agricultural and food sector. With its first investments, the fund is supporting three start-ups from Berlin, among others. These include the Rainforest Company, which aims to protect the rainforest, and the start-up Neggst, which produces an alternative to chicken eggs. The Klim company, which aims to support farmers in the transition to regenerative agriculture with its software, is also being supported.
"The fund's investment strategy is geared towards innovative solutions for sustainable consumption along the entire value chain and thus makes a significant contribution to climate targets," says Jörg Goschin, Managing Director of KfW Capital. "The Green Generation Fund is an impressive example of how the VC ecosystem can support greentechs."
