30 million euros for freeway campers

With the new funding, the startup plans to expand into France and Eastern Europe, among other markets.

Start-up Freewaycamper has just raised €30 million in funding, the company announced on Linkedin announced. The funding consists of equity, venture debt and debt. Czech fund Rockaway Ventures is leading the round. Bridge to Growth is also participating.

The start-up offers a camper rental service where vehicles can be booked directly on the internet. Behind the company, founded in 2019, are ex-Flixbus manager Nikolai Voitiouk-Blum and his wife Julia Blum. In addition to campers and motorhomes, the company also brokers around 1,000 campsites on its website. Currently, the company offers its vehicles for rent in Austria, Italy, Poland and Switzerland.

With the new funding, the startup also plans to expand into France, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe. "We observe that especially in Eastern European countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic, the camping trend and demand have now picked up very strongly," founder Voitiouk-Blum told the Gründerszene.
