The DPE portfolio company Unicair GmbH is setting the course for further growth: As part of a strategic realignment, AirAlliance GmbH is being sold to the Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft. Both companies previously belonged to the Air Alliance Group, which is majority-owned by Deutsche Private Equity (DPE). In future, Unicair will continue to operate as an independent company in the DPE portfolio.

The completion of the transaction is still subject to regulatory approval, including by the German Federal Aviation Authority, and is expected in the coming months.

Core business and growth now count

With the sale, the Group is divesting itself of the aircraft trading and maintenance business in order to focus clearly on its core business of global air ambulance flights. CEO Kim Flenskov sees this as an important step: the realignment will enable targeted investments in the fleet and the expansion of the range of international patient transportation services.

Marc Bielitza also emphasizes that both companies are to be further developed in line with their respective strengths in future.

Fleet renewal as a lever

A key component of the growth strategy is the modernization of the aircraft fleet. The plan is to gradually replace the Learjet 35 and Learjet 45 models currently in use with the Pilatus PC-24. The Bombardier Challenger 604 will continue to be used for long-haul missions.

The new fleet is intended to increase technical availability, improve efficiency and further enhance the quality of patient care.

Cooperation remains in place

Despite the sale, the operational cooperation with AirAlliance will continue: A multi-year maintenance contract will continue to ensure the technical support of the Unicair fleet. This will ensure that performance remains stable during the transition phase.

In future, Unicair will operate completely independently and concentrate on complex international ambulance flights. With a specialized fleet, medical equipment and experienced teams, the company continues to position itself as a reliable partner for insurance companies, NGOs and public clients worldwide.
