The voice prosthesis start-up has completed its seed financing round and gained High-Tech Gründerfonds as an investor.

The start-up Altavo, a spin-off from TU Dresden, has successfully completed its seed financing round. In addition to High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS), Saxonia Systems Holding GmbH and TUDAG TU Dresden AG are also investing. The exact amount of the investments is not known. The start-up intends to use the newly acquired capital for the development phase and the upcoming clinical pilot studies.

"At Altavo, we want to give voiceless people back a great deal of their quality of life - their own, natural-sounding voice," says Rudolf von Bünau, CEO and co-founder, explaining the vision of the Dresden-based start-up. The company, which was only founded in February 2021, is developing a prosthesis to help voiceless people regain a natural-sounding voice, for example after a laryngectomy. The key technology components are non-invasive radar sensors and AI algorithms for speech synthesis. Altavo is cooperating with TU Dresden in the development of these technologies.
