aTENSION.life receives 3 million US dollars seed investment

The Viennese MedTech start-up aTENSION.life receives fresh capital from Wlanholding, eQventure and VP Venture Partners. As part of the seed round, Dr. Werner Lanthaler takes over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
Vienna, May 8, 2025 - Vienna-based life science startup aTENSION.life, which specializes in precision medical diagnostics for hypertension, has closed a seed financing round of USD 3 million. The round was led by Wlanholding GmbH, which was founded by Dr. Werner Lanthaler, former CEO of Evotec SE. Co-investors in the round are eQventure and VP Venture Partners.
As part of the financing, Dr. Lanthaler was also appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of aTENSION.life.
Access to innovative mass spectrometry diagnostics
aTENSION.life develops diagnostic solutions based on mass spectrometry technologies and, with ALDO+, has created a platform aimed in particular at the early and precise detection of primary hyperaldosteronism (PA). According to studies, this form of hormone-induced hypertension is responsible for 5-10% of all cases of high blood pressure - but is often not recognized.
The company's first product, ALDO+PA, is already available in Austria and is offered in collaboration with labors.at. Expansion to the DACH region is planned for 2026, and the first customers in Germany, Switzerland and the USA are already using the technology.
Strategic realignment through prominent appointments
Wlanholding's investment and the appointment of Dr. Lanthaler as Chairman are intended to drive forward the company's strategic development.
Every hypertension patient deserves an early and precise diagnosis. This funding brings us closer to our goal of making clinical mass spectrometry diagnostics widely available.
Dr. Lanthaler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board aTENSION.life
The investment complements Wlanholding's strategic focus on promoting innovative healthcare technologies with a potentially global impact.
New management team and ambitious growth plans
Parallel to the financing, aTENSION.life is also undergoing a reorganization. The management team will be led by:
- Bernhard Klemen (CEO)
- Marko Poglitsch (CSO)
- Katharina Wieser (CBO)
The company addresses a huge global market with its technology: according to the WHO, around 1.3 billion people worldwide suffer from high blood pressure. Around 720 million of them do not receive adequate treatment, often due to unrecognized subtypes.
