HealthTech Axmed has received a non-dilutive grant of 6 million US dollars to expand access to high-quality and affordable medicines in low- and middle-income countries. The funding comes from the Gates Foundation and is intended in particular to scale the company's B2B procurement and logistics platform internationally.

Building a scalable drug supply infrastructure

The funding builds on a previous $5 million grant and underscores the confidence in the company's technology-enabled procurement model. Together with capital from Founderful Ventures, the company has raised a total of 13 million US dollars to date.

The new funds are primarily intended to accelerate expansion into additional markets and support procurement programs in various therapeutic areas, including family planning and malaria care.

Platform bundles demand and significantly reduces costs

Since its launch, the company has built a geo-agnostic platform for bundled procurement and integrated logistics that is specifically tailored to fragmented healthcare markets. In 2025 alone, it delivered more than 1,800 tons of medical goods and reached over 4.2 million patients, a significant increase compared to around 750,000 in the previous year.

By bundling demand, transparent pricing and coordinated international supply chains, the platform enables cost savings of 30 to 35%, according to the company. These efficiency gains extend the reach of medical care and shorten delivery times in complex markets.

Growth and market acceptance

In parallel with operational scaling, the company recorded a twelve-fold year-on-year increase in sales and an average repurchase rate of 70% - an indicator of sustained demand and trust on the buyer side.

Partners from the healthcare sector are also seeing a measurable impact. Denise Tuiime Mutambi, Director of Planning and Procurement at Joint Medical Stores, emphasizes the company's ability to manage complex supply chains and translate strategic approaches into concrete supply results.

Expansion into over 20 countries planned by 2026

The company aims to be active in more than 20 countries by the end of 2026. In the medium term, the aim is to reach 50 million people within three years, and over 100 million in the long term. The platform is thus positioning itself as a fundamental infrastructure for procuring medicines in regions that have previously been underserved.

CEO Emmanuel Akpakwu explained that the funding will make it possible to scale a functioning model in a targeted manner, strengthen procurement systems and ensure a reliable supply of quality-assured medicines.
