Banner Ridge Partners raises 2.15 billion US dollars for new secondary fund
The US private equity firm Banner Ridge Partners has successfully completed the fundraising for its Banner Ridge Secondary Fund V (BRP V). The fund reached its hard cap of 2.15 billion US dollars and was oversubscribed. It is the youngest fund to date within Banner Ridge's flagship secondary program.
The capital commitments come from a broad base of institutional investors, including pension funds and several well-known family offices. This is the fifth fund launch for Banner Ridge since its spin-off as an independent company in 2019.
Focus on secondaries, distressed and special situations
Banner Ridge pursues a specialized investment strategy with a focus on secondary transactions, distressed assets, special situations and credit strategies. Since the launch of the strategy in 2010, under the umbrella of a predecessor company, the team has invested more than USD 3 billion with over 150 specialized managers worldwide.
The approach combines primary, secondary and co-investments with specialized private equity sponsors. Investments are made specifically in market segments that are characterized by high complexity and limited transparency. This is an environment in which Banner Ridge sees a structural information and access advantage.
Market environment favors secondary strategies
According to the management, rising interest rates, limited liquidity and the growing acceptance of secondary investments as a portfolio management tool create an attractive market environment. In recent years, Banner Ridge has made targeted investments in the expansion of its investment team in order to further improve deal flow and market access.
The first investments from the new fund were made shortly after the closing. The team is also working on a well-filled pipeline that is in line with the company's established secondary strategy.
Established multi-strategy investor
Banner Ridge Partners currently manages assets of around 7.3 billion US dollars and is positioned as a multi-strategy investor in the field of alternative investments. The company creates discrete investment vehicles for primary, co-investment and secondary strategies and focuses on niche markets with fragmented structures and special value creation potential.
