byte robotics receives 1.3 million euros in seed funding

Magdeburg startup aims to enter the market with innovative plugin for automated robot programming
Magdeburg, June 2, 2025 - The deep-tech startup byte robotics has raised 1.3 million euros in equity in a seed financing round. The investor is bmp Ventures with the IBG-Fonds Sachsen-Anhalt. The Magdeburg start-up team intends to use the fresh capital to bring its AI-supported automation technology to market maturity.
Excellent research as a basis for founding
The company emerged from the EXIST research transfer program at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. As early as 2025, byte robotics was awarded the Gründungspreis+ and the "Innovative AI" focus prize in the "Gründungswettbewerb - Digitale Innovationen" competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
Our mission is to make industrial robotics accessible and economically viable for all manufacturing companies. We are only at the beginning of a disruptive change.
Erik May, CEO byte robotis
Cost reduction through automated robot programming
The byte robotics solution addresses a key problem: the high time and cost involved in programming and retooling industrial robots. These often represent the biggest cost factor over the lifetime of a system.
The byte robotics team is developing software that extends existing robot programming environments using a plug-in. It automatically generates cycle time-optimized and collision-free programs within a few minutes. These do not require the manual effort of traditional methods.
Technology from mathematics, algorithms and AI
The underlying technology combines classic analytical mathematics with modern AI methods and is particularly suitable for complex applications such as assembly, disassembly or welding.
We are at a turning point where technology and industrial requirements are coming together to fundamentally change robot programming.
Julian-Benedikt Scholle, CTO byte robotics
Focus on partnerships and scaling
With the seed funding, byte robotics is planning to continue building up the team as well as partnerships with robot manufacturers and system integrators. The goal is the broad market launch of the solution. Investor Dr. Jan Alberti, Managing Partner at bmp Ventures, emphasizes: "With increasing automation, the need for flexible, user-friendly solutions is growing. This is exactly where byte robotics' technology comes in - regardless of the robot manufacturer."
