The Finnish climate tech company Carbonaide has completed a financing round of 3.7 million euros. The capital is made up of equity and supplementary financing instruments and is intended to support the company's international expansion and further research and development activities.

Technology for CO₂ mineralization in concrete

Carbonaide has developed a technology that mineralizes CO₂ and binds it permanently in concrete. The process is based on CO₂ curing, in which carbon dioxide is used in concrete production and stored for the long term. The aim is to make concrete products with a reduced or negative carbon footprint economically viable.

Investor base expanded

The financing round was led by the existing shareholders Vantaan Energia, Redstone and Ihantola Invest. The round was supplemented by other private investors, including Zero Carbon Future Group, Product Ecology Holding B.V., Helkama Kiinteistöt and Ikorni Invest.

Focus of the use of funds

Carbonaide plans to use the fresh capital to make progress in three key areas:

  • International market expansion, including through the expansion of sales and marketing
  • Further development of the Carbonaide Service Platform, a cloud-based software for managing CO₂ flows, measuring emissions and issuing carbon certificates
  • Research and development beyond ready-mixed concrete, in particular for new applications of CO₂ curing in other types of concrete

Commercial implementation since 2024

Carbonaide's technology has been in commercial use since 2024. In 2025, the company concluded agreements with Finnish concrete manufacturers Lakan Betoni and Lipa-Betoni to integrate the technology into their production facilities. The start of production with the Carbonaide systems is planned for the beginning of 2026.

First sales with CO₂ certificates

In January 2026, Carbonaide also sold certified CO₂ credits generated by the mineralization technology for the first time. The customer was a Finnish law firm.
