CarbonFreed: One million euros secured from investors

The AI-supported platform that shortens the certification process for solar plants from months to weeks and is now also conquering the wind energy sector.
Meldorf, November 14, 2023 - The Schleswig-Holstein-based greentech company CarbonFreed has received almost one million euros from investors in its first financing round. The financing comes from MBG Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein mbH, Bürgschaftsbank Schleswig-Holstein and Sparkasse Westholstein. Founded in 2020 by Marko Ibsch in Meldorf, the company has developed the "gridcert" platform, an AI-supported solution that speeds up the grid connection process for large solar plants. CarbonFreed has already successfully connected over 700 systems to the grid.
Expansion of the platform for solar and wind power plants
The "gridcert" AI platform developed by CarbonFreed enables installation companies and project planners to significantly shorten the certification process for large solar installations. Normally, this process takes several months, but with "gridcert" it can be completed in just a few weeks. This applies to systems with an output of 135 kilowatts or more, for which an independent certification body checks the grid stability and system safety before they are allowed to feed energy into the grid.
Further development of AI software for larger systems
Marko Ibsch, founder of CarbonFreed, plans to further develop the "gridcert" software to include larger systems. Until now, the platform has specialized in solar plants with an output of up to 950 kilowatts. The expansion means that wind power plants can also be integrated, which opens up new market opportunities.
Our platform has so far specialized in the grid connection process for solar systems with an inverter output power of up to 950 kilowatts. In the coming months, we will expand our software so that it can also be used for larger systems.

International expansion in prospect
Although "gridcert" is currently only available in Germany, CarbonFreed is planning to expand internationally as a result of the financing round. Marko Ibsch emphasizes the global relevance of the topic of fast and secure integration of solar systems into the power grid. Demand from abroad is already noticeable. The financing round was accompanied by Lisa Groiß from DeCroix BeratungsCompany. She supported the company with financial planning, the business case and the search for investors.
