ChatGPT developers could sell their company

The AI research lab behind the AI, OpenAI, is apparently already holding talks to this effect. The company's valuation could then be 29 billion euros.
OpenAI is in talks to sell its AI Research Lab, according to a media report. A tender offer would then value the company at $29 billion. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal. Venture capitalists Thrive Capital and Founders Fund want to buy shares from existing shareholders, according to the report. That would be employees, for example. There is no official statement from the VCs yet.
AI research lab OpenAI recently celebrated a major success with the launch of chatbot ChatGPT, and the technology sparked intense debate on social media. OpenAI is now anticipating strong revenue growth this year and next. In 2023, executives pitched projected sales of 200 million euros in revenue, and as much as one billion euros in 2024, as Reuters already reported in December.
OpenAI was founded in 2015 by Tesla CEO Elon Musk together with investor Sam Altman. Microsoft also invested $1 billion in the organization - the company wants to link its Bing search engine with ChatGPT's technology. The chatbot can imitate human conversations, and its good results have already sparked debates about the future of academic homework, for example.
The chatbot is not the only well-known project to emerge from the OpenAI research lab. The AI Dall-E, which created images from text-based user input, also became a viral success. OpenAI says its goal is to develop artificial intelligence on an open-source basis to benefit society. It is divided into the non-profit company OpenAI Inc. and the for-profit subsidiary OpenAI LP.
