Cloover secures 1.222 billion US dollars
European EnergyTech startup Cloover has received significant capital commitments totaling 1.222 billion US dollars. The company combines equity financing, debt and an EIF guarantee to further expand its energy independence platform.
Financing structure: equity, debt and EIF guarantee
The USD 22 million Series A round was led by MMC Ventures and QED Investors. Other participants are Lowercarbon Capital, BNVT Capital, Bosch Ventures, CENTROTEC SE and Earthshot Ventures. The equity financing is complemented by a USD 1.2 billion debt facility provided by a leading European bank that provides financial support to customers and installers on the platform. Cloover also secured an EIF guarantee of 300 million euros to secure financing for additional projects.
AI as an operating system for energy
Cloover sees itself as a "Shopify for energy": the company combines financing, workflow management, procurement and energy optimization in a central platform. The aim is to efficiently map the growing demand for decentralized energy systems such as photovoltaics, battery storage, heat pumps and charging infrastructure.
Current status and growth
According to Cloover, the company is already working with hundreds of installers across Europe and has enabled thousands of households to achieve energy independence. Growth is rapid: in 2025, the company achieved eight-fold revenue growth while remaining profitable. Installers benefit on average from 34% additional turnover, households save 20-30% on energy costs. On the Startbase, we already reported on a 7 million round and a 114 million round for the start-up.
Cloover plans to use the fresh funds to further scale the platform, develop additional modules and expand its customer base in Europe. The long-term goal is energy independence for one billion people.
