Users can use the platform to create a profile and have documents automatically checked for completeness and correctness. Once all the required documents have been uploaded, users can apply directly to the universities. Compounder simplifies and facilitates admission to universities for future students.

The Cologne-based start-up Compounder was launched by founders Paula Vorbeck (CEO) and Evelyn Wagner (CMO) and founder Carmine Siena (CTO). The idea for Compounder arose from their own experience when the trio noticed how complicated university applications are in Germany. Berlin-based operational venture capitalist allygatr also believes in Compounder's idea and therefore participated in the start-up's financing round. Compounder was able to raise almost half a million euros in the financing round, with allygatr being one of the main investors.
