The insurtech wants to expand its digital pet insurance across Europe. The digital platform already insures 60,000 pets and is planning new services.

Paris, 17 March 2025 - The French insurtech company Dalma, which specializes in digital pet insurance, has closed a Series B financing round of 20 million euros. The round is led by Breega, with participation from existing investors Northzone and Anterra Capital as well as new investor Bpifrance.

Expansion into new European markets

Dalma aims to further expand its market presence in France and Germany and accelerate its expansion into other European countries. The company has grown by 700% since the last financing round and now serves 60,000 insured pets.

Our vision goes beyond traditional pet insurance. We want to revolutionize the way pet owners take care of their pets' health. This financing round gives us the means to expand our offering and strengthen our presence across Europe.

Technology as a competitive advantage

Dalma relies on a digital platform with an intuitive insurance model. Users can submit their vet bills directly via the app and have access to online consultations with vets around the clock. By using artificial intelligence, claims are processed within a few seconds - a significant acceleration compared to conventional insurance models.

Dalma has hit the nail on the head when it comes to combining two key trends: The increasing awareness of pet health and the growing costs in the veterinary sector. Its innovative approach has already won over tens of thousands of pet owners.

Dalma aims for market leadership in Europe

With the new financing, Dalma plans to expand its offering with additional services. Plans include direct payments to vets and an online store for high-quality pet products. Claire Castel, Investment Director at Bpifrance Digital Venture, emphasizes: "In just a few years, Dalma has created the most transparent and powerful insurance product on the market. This combination of innovation and brand strength will position the company as the European market leader."

With this strategy, Dalma wants to further expand its market share in Europe and establish itself as a holistic partner for animal health. At least the almost 1700 reviews on Trust Pilot with an average of 4.6 stars so far seem to confirm the positive impression. Increasing the focus on animal health and its insurance is certainly a good way forward. In economically strained situations, it is often the animals that are most likely to feel the consequences.
