Deep-tech startup Sendance receives fresh capital for data-driven medical technology

Fresh capital for data-based medical technology. An Austrian deep-tech start-up turns prostheses and insoles into intelligent data carriers.

The Austrian sensor technology startup Sendance has received an investment of several hundred thousand euros as part of its current financing round. The backer is the Brno-based investor group Garage Angels, which is participating via a convertible loan. Electron Capital Partners had previously invested at the seed stage.

The financing is intended to accelerate the further development of a technology platform with which manufacturers of orthopaedic aids, prostheses and exoskeletons can equip their devices with sensors and make health data usable.

Assistive devices become data sources

The Linz-based company is developing a patented solution that transforms classic assistive devices into digital systems. Sensors record movement and usage data directly in the user's everyday life. Manufacturers can use this information to improve products, personalize therapies and develop new data-based services.

The first products with integrated technology, characterized by "sendance inside", are already entering the market and are being used by customers.

Start-up experience as a key investment factor

The company is led by Robert Koeppe, a serial founder in the field of sensor technology. He previously built up the deep tech company isiQiri, which was sold as part of an M&A exit in 2018.

The investors see great scaling potential in this combination of market-ready technology and entrepreneurial experience. The aim now is to expand sales, marketing and product industrialization.

A total of 2.6 million euros in capital raised

Since its foundation, the start-up has raised around 2.6 million euros. The current funds will primarily be used to

  • further develop the sensor and data platform,
  • gain additional device manufacturers as partners,
  • and to develop new applications in the field of digital health and mobility data.

Brno as a starting point for early-stage financing

The new investors come from Brno and invest specifically in pre-seed and seed phases. In addition to capital, they contribute entrepreneurial experience and operational support. The group works closely with regional innovation players such as JIC to promote technology-oriented start-ups in Central Europe.

With this investment, the investors are positioning themselves in the growing market for personalized, intelligent medical technology - a segment that increasingly combines hardware, sensor technology and data analysis.
