Domino's uses delivery robots from Berlin start-up

In collaboration with the tech company Teraki, the fast food company is now having the first pizzas delivered by a robot.
The fast food chain Domino's Pizza and the tech company Teraki are working together to put a delivery robot on the road. Teraki has been developing AI-supported algorithms for sensor data processing to enable autonomous driving for six years. This technology is now being used to supplement Domino's delivery methods. To this end, the delivery robots will be equipped with sensors and software to help them find their way around the city.
"Especially in view of the highly competitive labor market and the shortage of drivers, we believe that delivery robots can be a supplement to serve the needs of our customers," says André ten Wolde, CEO of Domino's Pizza Enterprise Europe. The CEO does not see delivery robots as a replacement for drivers, but merely as a supplement.
In a five-week pilot phase, the robot will now deliver pizzas and drinks around the Domino's Pizza branch in Berlin-Charlottenburg-Nord. The companies then want to jointly evaluate the results of the test phase and decide whether more robots should be used.
