Third round for "New Roots" funding program starts

Mothers from Munich and the surrounding area can apply for the "New Roots" start-up program until August 14.

For the third time in a row, mothers can apply for the "New Roots" program of Godaddy and Impact Hub Munich. Mothers who have a start-up idea or are already self-employed are in demand. "New Roots" supports the women in various workshops in idea generation, financial planning and the development of a website. Only just under 16 percent of all start-ups in Germany are founded by women, according to a study by the German Start-up Monitor. One-third of all women are self-employed, according to the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). According to Unternehmer.de, structural inequity and lack of funding are among the challenges for women that make starting a business more difficult.

Former participants like Anna Diermeier show that the program can bring success. She participated in the program last year and founded the zero-waste store and design studio Zurück. According to her, the workshops have already enabled her to achieve initial success: "During the program, I acquired my first customer, was able to test my offering structure directly and implemented a really cool project."

Over a six-month period, the path to self-employment is explained to the women step by step. For this, applicants should plan one to two days a week for the workshops and mentoring.

Alexandra Anderson of Godaddy and co-supervisor of the program is proud of the collaboration and optimistic about the program, "The third round of the New Roots program provides moms with critical access to the right tools, resources and networks they need to scale their businesses and achieve more."
