Econetix receives €4.5m seed funding for climate projects in DACH, Middle East and Africa

Vienna-based climate tech Econetix has closed a €4.5 million seed financing round, according to Linkedinpost. According to the company, the round is one of the largest early-stage financings in the field of climate and environmental technologies in the DACH region in 2025. Econetix intends to use the capital to expand its activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Business model and objectives

Econetix develops and scales projects for CO₂ reduction and removal. The company covers the entire value chain - from project development to trading verifiable certificates. The aim is to make a long-term contribution to achieving global climate targets.

Founding team and locations

Econetix was founded by Jakob Zenz and Dr. Paul Nimmerfall.

• Zenz has experience in investment banking and projects in emerging markets.
• Nimmerfall is a lawyer specializing in climate and energy law.

The company employs around 25 people at three locations: Vienna (headquarters), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Kampala (Uganda).

Project pipeline

The company is already working on several projects, including

• Mangrove reforestation in Tanzania and Kenya,
• reforestation projects in Angola, Congo and Ethiopia,
• solar home systems in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the company, the projects contribute to both CO₂ reduction and social and economic development goals. Econetix intends to use the new capital to expand the team, develop the project pipeline and drive international expansion. In the medium term, the company sees itself as a provider of solutions that have both an ecological and economic impact.
