Ecopals raises 4 million euros for sustainable road construction materials

Ecopals, specialist for sustainable road construction materials, secures fresh capital to expand production capacities and international expansion
Berlin, August 7, 2024 - Berlin-based startup Ecopals has raised €4 million in a recent financing round to expand the market share of its flagship product Ecoflakes in Germany and develop international markets. The new investors include the MHI Group, a strategic industry partner, as well as Après-demain SA, the holding company of a private Swiss family group, and Companisto, the market-leading private investor network in the D-A-CH region.
Focus on sustainability
Ecopals has set itself the goal of reducing the CO2 footprint of asphalt by up to 20 percent by replacing virgin plastic in asphalt with recycled plastic. This sustainable solution not only reduces costs, but also protects the environment. The company is planning to expand its production capacity to meet increasing demand and is working on innovative solutions to further reduce CO2 emissions in road construction.
Ecopals has already proven on dozens of construction sites that its products work and protect the environment at the same time. The fact that we also save costs makes the product particularly interesting. For the MHI Group, the participation is an investment and an important step into the increasingly important future market of sustainable building materials.

Expansion of the management team
Alongside Jonas Varga, Fabian Zitzmann will become Co-CEO of Ecopals. Zitzmann will sharpen the company's positioning and further expand sales. "This is the largest financing round for Ecopals to date and is an important milestone," says Zitzmann. "With the new capital, we can grow much faster than before and hope to soon make a significantly greater contribution to CO2 reduction in road construction."
Interesting facts about the start-up
