EIF invests 20 million euros in TIN Capital's cybersecurity fund
The European Investment Fund (EIF) is investing EUR 20 million in TIN Capital's European Cyber Tech Fund V. The investment, supported by the EU's InvestEU program, consolidates the fund's position as a leading European investor in cyber security.
This investment will help secure Europe in a rapidly changing digital world.
Robert de Groot, Vice-President of the EIB Group
With the EIF's participation and an additional top-up from Invest-NL, the fund has now reached a volume of over EUR 80 million. In addition to institutional investors, regional funds, family offices and entrepreneurs from the European cybersecurity ecosystem are also participating.
Strategic capital for Europe's digital security
The fund invests specifically in European cybersecurity companies that are ready to move from the growth phase to scaling. The aim is to increase Europe's digital resilience and reduce technological dependencies, especially in the context of geopolitical tensions and new EU regulations such as NIS2, Cybersecurity Act and DORA.
Cybersecurity is no longer an option, but a necessity for Europe's economic and social stability. Together with the EIF and our partners, we are building European champions that are internationally competitive.
Michael Lucassen, Managing Partner at TIN Capital
Investments with a focus on AI and critical infrastructure protection
Since the first closing, TIN Capital has already invested in several companies that strategically contribute to European security. These include providers that use large data sets to generate security-relevant insights for NATO countries, as well as start-ups that secure software supply chains, cloud infrastructures and data protection technologies.
Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a central role here: it improves the efficiency and scalability of many security solutions and enables the early detection of risks in highly complex networks.
Europe-wide signal effect for cyber security
Cecilia Thorfinn, Commissioner of the European Commission Representation in the Netherlands, emphasizes the importance of the fund:"Cybersecurity is crucial to ensure a secure digital environment for citizens and businesses - and to strengthen Europe as an attractive location."
With the European Cyber Tech Fund V, TIN Capital aims to support the next generation of European cybersecurity companies - for a more secure, independent and technologically sovereign future.
