Boxbase secures pre-seed funding to redesign the management of functional fitness studios.

Vienna, March 25, 2025 - Boxbase, the new generation of management software for CrossFit boxes, has successfully closed a six-figure pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Johannes Moser, co-founder of Immerok (acquired by Confluent). Investors also include Austrian serial entrepreneur Dieter Rappold (co-founder and CEO of ContextSDK) and Bryan Clark, VP of Product at Neon (formerly Mozilla and GitHub) from North America.

Customized solution for CrossFit boxes

Boxbase was founded by CrossFit enthusiasts Lukas Bernert and Şahin Uçar and developed in close collaboration with CrossFit box owners. The aim is to solve the specific challenges of these studios. The platform offers a modern, user-friendly solution to optimize operations so that operators can focus more on building their community.

We may seem like a SaaS company for CrossFit boxes today, but our vision goes far beyond that. Our goal is to build the leading operating system for boutique gyms and help thousands of passionate operators build successful businesses.

Expansion plans beyond CrossFit

While Boxbase is currently focused on managing CrossFit studios, the company plans to expand into the entire functional fitness market. This includes Hyrox, weightlifting, yoga and other boutique gyms. The boutique fitness market was worth over USD 45 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.6% until 2029.

The challenge for CrossFit studios

While many CrossFit box owners are passionate about their sport, they often lack the right tools or experience to run their business efficiently. At the same time, growth-oriented operators reach their limits with existing software solutions and have to resort to additional tools. Boxbase closes this gap: The software offers both powerful tools for scaling and intuitive use for operators who want to manage their studio professionally.

Boxbase has changed our studio. The software is clean, intuitive and incredibly easy to use.

Future plans: Expanding features and scaling globally

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand the feature set and further extend Boxbase's market reach. The goal is to empower CrossFit box operators worldwide and provide them with powerful, modern software for managing their gyms.
