The European sports and wellness industry is undergoing a new consolidation. The Viennese company Eversports and the Swedish MATCHi Group are joining forces to create the leading software and booking platform for sports and wellness providers in Europe.

The merger creates the largest platform of its kind in Europe with around 9,000 networked locations. While Eversports operates more than 5,500 studios and over 500 sports facilities, MATCHi contributes a network of over 3,000 racquet sports facilities. The aim is to significantly simplify access to sports facilities.

Fragmented market meets consolidation

The market for sports software and booking solutions has been highly fragmented to date. Many providers use different systems or still rely on analog processes. The demand for integrated platforms that make processes more efficient and improve the user experience is growing accordingly.

Sport connects people and is a cornerstone of a healthy society. By joining forces with MATCHi, we are building one of the largest integrated platforms for sports and wellness providers in Europe...

Hanno Lippitsch, CEO of Eversports

With the merger, both companies are combining their strengths. Eversports is particularly active in boutique studios, while MATCHi has built up in-depth expertise in racquet sports. Together, they are creating an integrated solution for various sports and wellness segments.

Padel and Pilates on the rise

A central focus of the new group is on fast-growing segments such as padel and Pilates. Padel is developing dynamically, particularly in countries such as Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom, and is one of the fastest growing sports in Europe. MATCHi has an established network and extensive community experience in this area.

Over more than a decade, MATCHi has built one of the leading platforms for racket sports and has connected facilities and players worldwide.

Daniel Ekman, CEO of the MATCHi Group

At the same time, Pilates is gaining importance in the boutique fitness market, driven by increasing health awareness and the demand for gentle forms of training. Eversports supports corresponding providers with specialized management and booking solutions.

Expansion of tech and AI

A key component of the merger is the integration of the product and engineering teams. The aim is to develop a unified platform that seamlessly connects both management and booking processes.

The companies are also planning to pool their AI expertise in order to offer more AI-supported functions. Among other things, these should optimize capacity utilization, automate processes and enable personalized offers.

Expansion and M&A offensive

The newly formed Group is clearly focusing on growth in Europe. The focus is particularly on markets such as France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom. At the same time, the market position in the DACH region and the Nordic countries will be further strengthened.

This strategy is supported by growth partner Verdane, which is already invested in both companies. Verdane will continue to play a central role in the implementation of further acquisitions in the future.

The Eversports Group is building on previous acquisitions such as Fitogram and Matchpoint, which have expanded the network by more than 1,700 additional sports facilities. Further M&A activities are to follow in order to further consolidate the fragmented market.

Building a large platform

The merger positions the new Eversports Group as a central player in the European sports and wellness market. The combination of a technological platform, high-growth segments and targeted expansion creates the basis for a comprehensive digital ecosystem.
