Ex Nunc Intelligence raises 2.15 million US dollars pre-seed
Ex Nunc Intelligence has closed an oversubscribed pre-seed financing round of 2.15 million US dollars. The round is led by Spicehaus Partners, with participation from Bloomhaus Ventures, Active Capital, Aperture Capital, Core Angels and a number of angel investors.
The company is developing a new category of legal intelligence that is specifically designed for reliability, traceability and professional confidentiality.
Infrastructure instead of a stand-alone solution for lawyers
Ex Nunc Intelligence aims to build not just another legal tech tool, but the infrastructure layer for the next generation of legal knowledge work. In the future, this should form the basis on which lawyers research, argue, write and manage knowledge.
Our ambition is not to develop another legal tool, but to create the infrastructure that will drive the next era of legal intelligence. Legal work needs systems that can be trusted.
Kyriaki Bongard, Co-Founder and CEO of Ex Nunc Intelligence
Trustworthy legal intelligence with source reference
Ex Nunc Intelligence's core product is the Silex platform, which is already used by several hundred law firms, notary's offices and legal departments. Unlike generic AI tools, Silex is specifically designed for professional legal use:
- Every answer is clearly traceable to legal sources
- No speculative content
- Focus on reliability and traceability
This clear positioning ensures strong market penetration and early validation in the legal environment.
AI agents and digital legal publishing
Ex Nunc Intelligence intends to use the fresh capital to accelerate the further development of Silex and roll out a new generation of specialized AI agents for individual areas of law.
At the same time, a native digital publishing layer will be created that is directly integrated into Silex. It enables lawyers and legal scholars to publish doctrinal content within the platform. This is automatically combined with transparent and improved remuneration models for authors.
Team from law, AI and engineering
Ex Nunc Intelligence was founded by experts from the fields of law and artificial intelligence. The team currently comprises more than ten employees from the fields of law, AI and software development.
Led by a legally trained CEO and a CTO with proven AI expertise, the company is one of the few providers that is built from the ground up with both legal and technological expertise. Following the financing round, a new phase of team and competence building is now beginning.
Data protection and confidentiality as an architectural principle
A key differentiating feature of Ex Nunc Intelligence is its handling of confidential data. The platform combines public legal sources with the private knowledge of clients, secured by isolated data silos.
This allows law firms to securely integrate internal documents without jeopardizing confidentiality or data protection. At the same time, internal content is transformed into structured, strategically usable knowledge.
In-depth technology instead of a model shell
In terms of technology, Ex Nunc Intelligence pursues a full-stack approach. Instead of simply packaging existing AI models, the company is developing its own legal intelligence architecture, from data acquisition and legal structuring to retrieval, reasoning and generation.
The close integration of legal expertise and AI engineering creates a depth of processing that goes far beyond traditional pre-processing approaches and enables long-term technological differentiation.
