Expressgroup raises 25 million euros

Complete your tax return in just a few minutes and get your money back. That's what the start-up wants to make possible. Now international investors are getting on board.
Fintech Expressgroup has raised €25 million in a Series A round. The round is led by Insight Partners and Project A Ventures.
The tax platform claims to make tax refunds accessible to everyone. "The European working class is notoriously underserved by the fintech industry, and we're going to change that by making our services accessible to everyone - regardless of income, language barriers or knowledge of the tax system," says Maximilian Lambsdorff, co-founder and CEO of Expressgroup.
Lambsdorff co-founded the company in 2019 with Dennis Konrad, Mehdi Afridi, Andreas Santoro and Konstantin Loebner. Originally, the startup's name was Expresssteuer. The founding team developed software to make it easier for employees to file a tax return and get money back. With the help of a questionnaire, customers create a tax return in a few minutes, which is then sent to a tax consultant. The latter then processes the tax return and sends it to the tax office.
According to its own information, Expressgroup has generated sales of over 45 million euros in the last twelve months. The fintech is now aiming to expand into other European countries. The start-up also wants to use the new capital for this purpose.
