FlyFocus receives 4.5 million euros for expansion of European drone production
The Polish DefenseTech FlyFocus has raised 4.5 million euros in its first institutional financing round. The round was led by ff Venture Capital, with the participation of the NCBR Investment Fund, the venture arm of the Polish National Center for Research and Development.
The financing is intended in particular to drive forward the establishment of a new production facility in Poland, international expansion and the development of two new drone platforms.
Scaling up after eight years of self-financing
FlyFocus was founded in 2017 and has grown from the research phase to a production company with direct military contracts without institutional capital. Today, the company develops and manufactures complete UAV systems, avionics and mission software entirely in-house.
With the current round, FlyFocus intends to significantly expand its industrial production and position itself more strongly as a European supplier of sovereign drone technology.
Focus on European supply chains and technological sovereignty
One of the company's distinguishing features is the consistent use of components exclusively from NATO-associated supply chains. This is FlyFocus' response to the strong dependence of global drone markets on non-European technologies.
The systems are developed, produced and maintained entirely in Europe to ensure transparency, safety-critical control and procurement capability for European defense authorities. This is particularly exciting in the context of the recent discussion about the ownership structure of German drone start-ups.
Systems already tested in real use
FlyFocus has a long-term cooperation with the Polish armed forces and counts both the Polish and Ukrainian ministries of defense among its customers. The platforms have been validated under real operational conditions and continuously developed further together with military users.
According to the company, this direct feedback from operational scenarios plays a key role in product development.
Broad portfolio from ISR to counter-drone systems
The product portfolio includes
- ISR drones for reconnaissance and surveillance
- Loitering and strike systems for tactical missions
- Counter-drone technologies for defense against unmanned systems
- Tethered UAV solutions for permanent aerial surveillance
All platforms are based on a modular hardware architecture and a fully proprietary software stack, which means that adaptations and updates can be implemented quickly.
New production facility and further platforms planned
The fresh funds will primarily be used to
- the construction of a new production facility in Poland (planned from H2 2026)
- the expansion of international sales activities
- additional R&D investments
- the market launch of two new UAV platforms before the end of 2026
With currently around 35 employees, FlyFocus aims to further expand its role as a European provider of industrially scalable drone technology.
