The ex-Klöckner boss is also directly involved in 15 start-ups and has floated a SPAC on the stock market.

In May of this year, Gisbert Rühl said goodbye to Klöckner & Co. He had been managing director of the Duisburg-based steel group since 2009. Since then, he has been active as a business angel in the start-up cosmos. "After leaving Klöckner, I really wanted to be an entrepreneur. Simply being on a supervisory board would not have been enough for me," Rühl told the Rheinische Post.

With his venture capital company Chepstow Capital, he has already invested in 15 funds, the 62-year-old told the Rheinische Post. He supports a further 15 start-ups with direct investments. His focus is particularly on start-ups in the B2B sector, as he writes on Linkedin. For example, he has invested in Sparetech, a platform for spare parts management. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the start-up association.

In October, Gisbert Rühl went public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with SPAC GFJ ESG Acquisition together with Josef Brunner and Florian Fritsch(we reported). The company is named after the investors' first names and its purpose: to take a sustainable start-up public. It is not yet known which start-up will be acquired.
