Holi receives 3 million euros seed

The Polish healthtech startup Holi, provider of a digital obesity clinic, has closed a seed financing round of 3 million euros. The round was led by 4growth VC (Poland), with participation from YZR Capital and Heartfelt Capital (both Germany) as well as a group of business angels.

Holi intends to use the new capital to expand its data-driven platform for the treatment of obesity internationally, initially in Southern and Eastern Europe, and to further develop its technological infrastructure.

Digital obesity clinic combines medicine, technology and behavioral coaching

Holi offers a multidisciplinary treatment approach that combines doctors, psychodietologists, psychologists and physiotherapists in one digital platform. Patients receive individualized treatment plans via app and online access that combine medical care, nutrition and exercise concepts as well as GLP-1-based pharmacotherapy (e.g. with drugs such as Ozempic or Wegovy).

Data-driven treatment with proven success

Holi's platform combines precise data analysis, AI-supported dosage optimization and personalized coaching. The result: patients achieve an average weight reduction of 17% after twelve months, around 1.5 times more effective than medication alone.

Holi also helps to reduce medication costs by up to 50% by individually adapting treatment plans and optimizing dosages. Holi thus makes obesity therapies more sustainable and affordable.

Classification: Obesity market and treatment reality in Germany

The market for obesity treatments in Germany is already highly developed and diverse. In addition to doctors in private practice, diabetologists, nutritionists, ecotrophologists and dieticians, there is a broad network of specialized weight loss clinics and obesity centers that offer both conservative and surgical forms of treatment.

The average weight reduction of 17 percent in the first year communicated by Holi is therefore particularly remarkable. These values are at the level of patients who use GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic or Wegovy (so-called "weight loss injections"), i.e. who are supported by medication. A greater reduction can usually only be achieved through bariatric surgery such as gastric bypass, stomach reduction or gastric banding.

By way of comparison, a change in diet and lifestyle alone usually leads to a long-term average weight loss of less than 10 percent. If Holi can prove its results clinically, this would be a real new option in the growing market for digital obesity therapies and a potential turning point for obesity treatment in Europe.
