Honda invests in Ineratec

The Karlsruhe-based start-up is developing e-fuels to make various industries greener. Honda Motor sees this as an opportunity for the future.
Honda Motor is leading the new financing round of Karlsruhe-based cleantech Ineratec. Existing investors are also involved in the round. It is not making public how much capital is flowing into the startup. In January 2022, Ineratec raised 20 million euros in its Series A financing round.
The technological cooperation between Japanese automaker Honda and the southern German startup is now to be strengthened. Together, they want to test and apply renewable e-fuels. "Honda has high expectations for the future of Ineratec," says Honda's Senior Managing Executive Officer Shinji Aoyama. "Honda sees synthetic fuels as an important part of a range of technologies that will contribute to CO2 neutrality in certain fields such as aviation."
Ineratec's goals sound similar. The cleantech wants to make the aviation, marine, automotive and chemical industries less dependent on fossil fuels with e-fuels - and to do that, it wants to expand production capacity for CO2-neutral fuels and chemicals faster and more. The investments are intended to help achieve this.
