AI startup Manus joins Meta
Manus, a company specializing in autonomous general AI agents, is joining the US technology group Meta. The transaction marks a significant milestone for the young AI company and underlines Meta's ambition to further integrate agent-based AI into its consumer and business products.
Official financial details were not disclosed. According to unconfirmed rumors, the valuation is said to have been around 2 billion US dollars.
Focus on universal AI agents for real-world applications
Since its market launch, Manus has been pursuing the goal of developing a universally applicable AI agent that can perform complex tasks such as research, automation, programming and data analysis independently. Through rapid product iterations, the technology has been continuously optimized for real-world use cases.
Within just a few months, the Manus agent had already processed over 147 trillion tokens and enabled the creation of more than 80 million virtual computers. Key figures that underline the scalability and performance of the platform.
Manus remains operationally independent
Despite the merger with Meta, Manus will remain independent in key respects. The subscription service will continue to be offered and operated via its own app and website. The operational location in Singapore will also remain the same.
Joining Meta allows us to build on a stronger and more sustainable foundation without changing how Manus operates or how decisions are made.
Xiao Hong, CEO of Manus
The aim is to make the transition as seamless as possible for existing customers. At the same time, the partnership opens up new long-term scaling opportunities across Meta's global platforms.
From the execution layer to AI infrastructure for billions of users
Manus sees its core competence in its role as an execution layer for AI agents: advanced AI models are translated into scalable, reliable systems that can autonomously execute end-to-end processes in real-world environments.
With Meta as a partner, this technology will not only reach millions of existing users in the future, but potentially billions of people and companies. This is to be achieved through integration into Meta AI as well as other consumer and business products from the Group.
In future, the Manus team will help to provide AI agents that can be used universally across the entire product portfolio.
Signal effect for the global AI market
The merger highlights the growing importance of autonomous AI agents as the next evolutionary stage of artificial intelligence. For founders and investors, the deal is another example of how specialized agent technologies can quickly gain strategic relevance for global platform providers.
