Cologne-based energy-as-a-service start-up Einklang receives 2.2 million euros in financing
The Cologne-based company Einklang has completed a financing round of 2.2 million euros. The provider intends to use the fresh capital to scale its battery-optimized electricity solution for commercial and industrial customers and roll it out to 100 locations by 2026. This should enable companies to reduce their electricity costs by 30 to 40 percent.
The round was led by Vireo Ventures. Other investors involved include SI Ventures and Saxovent as well as additional angel investors.
Focus on industrial SMEs
Einklang believes it is addressing a key challenge of the energy transition: While energy-intensive large-scale industries often benefit from regulatory relief, many medium-sized companies continue to struggle with high electricity prices, strong price fluctuations and grid fees.
According to co-founder and CEO Lucas Jonas, the problem lies less in renewable generation itself than in a lack of flexibility on the consumption side. This is precisely where the company comes in by systemically interlinking electricity procurement, storage and use.
Algorithmic control combines procurement, storage and consumption
The solution integrates battery storage, dynamic electricity tariffs and intelligent control. Companies automatically procure energy when it is cheap and available from renewable sources. This makes it possible to:
- Reduce peak loads
- Reduce grid charges
- Cushion price volatility
- Increase planning reliability
According to the company, new locations can usually be converted to the battery-optimized model within three months. The first applications are already in regular operation at production and industrial sites.
Founding team with experience from energy start-ups
The founding team brings operational experience from previous company set-ups, including positions at Voltfang and Impuls Energy. This combination of industry expertise and algorithmic energy trading forms the technological basis of the business model.
Decentralized energy systems as the new standard model
For investors, the main attraction is the growing demand for integrated solutions in the SME sector. Felix Krause, Partner at Vireo Ventures, sees considerable potential in the current regulatory framework for systems that combine battery storage, photovoltaics, dynamic tariffs and intelligent control.
Electricity use in harmony with renewable generation
In the long term, Einklang wants to establish itself as a decentralized full-service provider for flexible energy systems in the SME sector. The vision is for companies to use energy automatically when the sun and wind provide sufficient power - without any additional operational complexity.
The start-up intends to use the funding to further develop its technology platform, build strategic partnerships and establish flexible, integrated energy systems as the new standard in the industrial SME sector.
