LayerLogic receives € 470,000 pre-seed

The Swedish deeptech startup LayerLogic has successfully completed a pre-seed financing round of 470,000 euros. The lead investor is Scientifica Venture Capital, known for investing in science-based early-stage startups with social impact.
Graphene sensor detects contamination in under 15 minutes
At the heart of the innovation is a wearable biosensor based on graphene field-effect transistors (gFETs). Thanks to the functionalized surface with selective receptors, the sensor detects bacteria, viruses, fungi and chemical contaminants - quickly, precisely and directly on site.
The big advantage over conventional methods: Test results are available in under 15 minutes, instead of 2 to 4 days of laboratory time. This enables real-time decisions to be made in food production and prevents contamination damage, which can cause costs of up to 200,000 euros in an emergency.
Can be used directly in production
The sensor is compact, mobile and suitable for direct use on production lines. This makes it a practical tool for food producers.
We want to put the power of science directly into the hands of those who produce and monitor our food every day. Our goal is a system that enables real-time food safety - simple, reliable and applicable everywhere.
André Persson, CEO of LayerLogic
Emerged from research at Chalmers University
LayerLogic was founded in 2024 as a spin-off from Chalmers University of Technology, one of Europe's leading research centers for micro- and nanotechnology.
The start-up is backed by an interdisciplinary team of six founders. Engineers André Persson (CEO), Ebba Sandbecker (CCO) and Sebastian Samuelsson (CFO) joined forces with researchers Munis Khan, Avgust Yurgens and Santosh Pandit, who specialize in two-dimensional materials and graphene devices.
Scientifica Venture Capital invests in scalable material innovation
"We decided to invest in LayerLogic because the start-up exemplifies how materials science can be translated into scalable, industrial applications with great social benefit.
Riccardo D'Alessandri, Managing Partner at Scientifica Venture Capital
Food safety, sustainability and social impact are among the core values of the Swedish start-up. After all, the early detection of contamination not only protects consumers, but also reduces food waste and supports responsible, transparent production.
