The startup Marble Imaging, founded in August 2023, has closed an oversubscribed seed financing round of 5.3 million euros. The round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with other investors including BAB Beteiligungs- und Managementgesellschaft Bremen, Lightfield Equity, Oslo Venture Company, Sentris Capital, Auxxo Female Catalyst Fund and SpaceFounders. The funds will be used for the expansion of operational structures, product development and the implementation of the planned satellite constellation. The first Marble satellite is planned for 2026.

Focus on European high-resolution Earth observation

Marble Imaging is developing an AI-supported Earth observation system that delivers very high-resolution optical data. The company is thus positioning itself in response to the increasing demand for independent, rapidly available data from Europe. Especially in the security and climate tech sector, the need for precise, timely information for analysis and decision-making processes is growing.

This financing round will enable us to significantly expand our capabilities to meet the rapidly growing demand. Our goal is to build a satellite constellation of up to 20 units by the end of 2028.

Robert Hook, CEO and co-founder Marble Imaging

Previous milestones and collaborations

Marble had previously received over 10 million euros in non-dilutive funding through programs such as the DLR Small Satellite Payload Competition and ESA InCubed. The startup also secured an anchor contract with ESA worth 3 million euros. These steps lay the foundation for the planned expansion and commercial rollout of the products.

Planned further development and Series A financing

The seed round will enable Marble to expand its development team, finalize the intelligence, maritime and navigability tools and establish an operations center for the satellite constellation. The company is already preparing a Series A financing to further accelerate the expansion and bring in additional investors.

Marble Imaging fills a critical gap in Europe's very high-resolution Earth observation market. I don't see any other company doing this faster than Marble.

Koen Geurts, Senior Investment Manager at HTGF

With the seed financing, Marble has reached another important milestone. The combination of technological development, strategic partnerships and investor support should enable the startup to take a leading European position in the field of high-resolution earth observation and to realize the planned satellite constellation on schedule.
