Markus Gunter becomes Managing Director at Lemon Markets

The former CEO of N26 is now to help the start-up become a regulated securities institution.
Berlin-based fintech Lemon Markets is expanding its management team with Markus Gunter as its new CEO. With his regulatory experience, he is to support the company on its way to becoming a regulated securities institution in the future.
Gunter has worked in the fintech industry for decades. He was a managing director at Activest and Pioneer Investments, where he helped shape the asset management industry. As CEO of Direktanlagebank AG and N26, he helped build and scale direct brokerage and mobile banking businesses.
Gunter said he is excited to build Lemon Markets, a new infrastructure that will allow fintechs to seamlessly access capital markets. "We are thus immensely accelerating the development of innovative products that enable retail customers to take their financial future into their own hands," says Gunter.
Marcel Katenhusen and Maximilian Linden founded Lemon Markets 2020, which has developed an API platform to enable fintechs to offer investment features to retail investors. Previous investors include Lakestar and Creandum.
