MATCHDAY NUTRITION receives over one million euros

The Berlin-based start-up wants to grow internationally with functional sports nutrition for footballers. The fresh capital comes from the Companisto business angel network.

Berlin, May 7, 2025 - The Berlin-based startup MATCHDAY NUTRITION, which specializes in functional nutrition, has successfully completed a financing round of over one million euros. The round was conducted via the business angel network of the investment platform Companisto. The company intends to use the capital to expand its product range, further develop the brand and expand into new markets.

The round is in line with the trend of growing investor demand for specialized direct-to-consumer brands with a clear target market. In this case, MATCHDAY NUTRITION is targeting footballers - both professional and amateur - with scientifically based nutritional supplements.

Focus on performance optimization and regeneration

MATCHDAY NUTRITION was founded by Stephan Berg and Felix von Zabiensky and has a clear focus: supporting soccer players with nutritional supplements based on sports science. The aim is to reduce drops in performance, accelerate regeneration and minimize the risk of injury by providing targeted nutrients.

According to the company, it works closely with nutritionists and sports scientists to tailor the formulations to the specific physical and mental requirements of soccer.

Expanding the brand and entering international markets

MATCHDAY NUTRITION is pursuing three central goals with the new capital: Firstly, the brand image is to be sharpened and further developed in order to increase recognizability in the fast-growing functional sports nutrition market. Secondly, the company wants to expand its product portfolio. And thirdly, international expansion is on the agenda, initially within Europe.

As a direct-to-consumer brand, MATCHDAY NUTRITION primarily sells its products via its own online store. Sales are also supported by a strong social media presence. According to the startup, it already has over 60,000 customers, including players from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 as well as numerous ambitious amateur footballers.

Companisto as a co-investment platform

The financing was realized via the Companisto business angel network. In recent years, the platform has established itself as one of the leading venture capital providers in the DACH region and has already invested over 240 million euros in more than 350 start-ups. MATCHDAY NUTRITION was able to benefit from both the visibility within the network and the standardized handling of the investment process.

As is typical for Companisto, both institutional and private investors participate in such rounds from a sum of 10,000 euros. For MATCHDAY, the combination of capital, expertise and access to a broad network is likely to be a decisive advantage in the implementation of its ambitious expansion plans.
