From kniti to cross-industry expansion. Memi Textiles raises capital to scale high-tech textiles for the baby & incontinence market.

Memi Textiles GmbH, a start-up for sustainable textile innovations, has raised around 700,000 euros from business angels and institutional investors in a financing round. The capital will primarily be used to scale up the technology, expand production and launch new hygiene applications.

Mix of investors from district savings banks and angel pools

In addition to two institutional partners, Kapitalbeteiligungsgesellschaft der Kreissparkasse Esslingen-Nürtingen and Wagniskapitalgesellschaft der Kreissparkasse Reutlingen, two angel pools are also participating in the round. The Heimatboost pool, led by HEIMATBOOST GmbH, and another pool led by Afroditi Tsobanelis-Görgen are supporting the young company.

Sustainable alternative to chemical superabsorbents

Memi Textiles is pursuing the goal of replacing chemical superabsorbents in disposable products with reusable textile solutions. To achieve this, the start-up combines various high-performance fibers in a unique structure that achieves its full absorbency using high-tech knitting processes. The technology can be used in baby diapers, feminine hygiene products and incontinence products and offers a sustainable alternative to conventional disposable products.

The number of inquiries from sectors other than the baby market - particularly in the field of incontinence - has recently increased significantly. The funding now enables us to push ahead with the requested products with various companies.

Successful market launch and media attention

In March 2024, founders Franziska Nowak and Manuela Miller-Feigl launched their cloth diaper brand "kniti", which stands for thin, reusable and highly absorbent diaper products. Attention for the start-up continued to grow after they took part in the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen" in September 2025(our report on the show). A deal was struck with Judith Williams during the broadcast, but this fell through in the aftermath of the show. Since then, Memi Textiles has also been offering the technology to other companies, particularly for products in the field of incontinence, where demand has recently risen sharply.

Memi Textiles GmbH was founded in 2022 and focuses on sustainable alternatives to disposable products with chemical superabsorbents. The ultra-absorbent textile is manufactured in a zero-waste production process and can help to save tons of waste. The founders bring in expertise from the automotive industry and management consulting and thus pursue a combination of technological know-how and entrepreneurial scalability.
