The company's electric jetboards are in the luxury segment. The founders are targeting sea rescue services, water sports facilities and yacht owners as customers.

The Hamburg-based start-up for electric jetboards Mo-Jet has already received capital from Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein. Now three additional private investors have joined in. As part of a Kickstarter campaign, the company also reached its target of 40,000 euros within five hours.

Mo-Jet wants to use the money to produce 200 jetboards in the first year of production and 500 in the second year. That doesn't sound like much. However, in view of the small number of jetboard s sold, the figure already seems relatively high: just 2,500 jetboards were sold worldwide in 2020. Around 6,000 foils and 2,500 scooters were also sold in 2020. According to Mo-Jet, the reason why there were so few of these is that riding them is not as much fun as you might think.

Mo-Jet now wants to change that: The founders have put twelve years into developing a product that is fun to ride and should also be easy for beginners to use in wind and waves. It should also be easy to transport. The Mo-Jet founders have chosen a small market and their jetboard is in the luxury segment. The price starts at around 10,000 euros. However, the founders consider the market potential to be large due to the wide range of possible applications: the boards are expected to find buyers in the field of sea rescue, in water sports facilities, resorts or among yacht owners, motorboat enthusiasts and water sports equipment rental companies.

Mo-Jet offers seven modules. The stern section, which has been christened "Mo-Jet" as the basic component, is the drive and centerpiece. The "Body" turns it into a bodyboard for children, while the "Surf Air" and "Surfboard" turn it into surfboards. An underwater propeller is used with the "Foil". The "Dive" element can dive and the "Rescue" module was developed for sea rescue. "Mo-Jet can save lives and make the work of lifeguards much easier," says co-founder Holger Daum.
