Head of sustainability leaves Zalando

Kate Heiny is leaving the company at the end of the month; the position will be filled internally on a transitional basis.
Sustainability chief Kate Heiny will leave fashion company Zalando at the end of October. This is reported by the Handelsblatt. She is not the first manager to leave the Dax company in recent months. In July, for example, Florian Jodl, who worked at Zalando for ten years and was most recently General Manager of the DACH region, left.
There are many reasons for this restructuring. Since the beginning of the year, the share has lost two thirds of its value. In addition, sales are falling. While the company still benefited strongly from the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns, it was four percent lower in the second quarter of 2022 than in the previous year.
Kate Heiny's sustainability strategy, launched in 2019, has recently shown some success. For example, Zalando published its first Corporate Digital Responsibility Report in cooperation with the German government. Packaging now consists almost exclusively of recycled and recyclable material. Heiny is now leaving the company, which was founded in 2008, after about three years. The search for a successor is underway.
