New leadership at battery start-up Customcells

Former Conti CTO Dirk Abendroth is to become the new boss and raise the profile of the start-up Customcells.

At Customcells, Dirk Abendroth will take the lead as the new CEO. The former Conto CTO will also act as an intermediary between the automotive industry and support Customcells founders Torge Thönnessen and Leopold König in the series production of lithium-ion battery cells.

The start-up develops special battery cells to customer specifications. Porsche Ventures and Primepulse SE are also among the shareholders. Abendroth has previously worked in the automotive industry and was most recently CTO at automotive supplier Continental.

Now the electrical engineer with a doctorate is dedicating himself to the young start-up because he was looking for a challenge: "Customocells is a highly exciting company - on the one hand still young, agile and clearly structured, and on the other hand with extremely great potential in an absolute future industry," he says. For the future of Customcells, he has set himself the goal of making the battery cell manufacturer better known and networking it as a premium brand in Germany.
