Dutch investor Peak comes to Germany

The VC from Amsterdam will start in Berlin in July. 66 million euros have been earmarked primarily for German start-ups.
The Dutch VC Peak will move into an office in Berlin starting in July. The early-stage investor also wants to observe the German market from the capital. Peak has been active primarily in the BeNeLux countries for 14 years and has managed its funds out of Amsterdam until now. "We deliberately chose Berlin rather than Paris or London," says Johan van Mil, co-founder and managing partner of Peak.
"For us, it's clear that Germany has to be the next step if we want to grow further in Europe - this is where the European economic engine is and there's a huge amount of innovation." The first German start-up Peak invested in was Graph CMS. Peak had led the two-and-a-half million euro funding round from May 2020.
Peak does not invest in specific industries, but in marketplace, platform and SaaS models. The Dutch are financed exclusively by founders who give their money. None of the 34 investments have failed so far, Peak says. Successful investments include OneFit, which merged with Urban Sports Club, and United Wardrobe, which was bought by second-hand fashion platform Vinted.
Peak has already launched its fourth fund. 66 million euros are available and will be invested primarily in German start-ups. Peak's initial investments are usually between 250,000 and four million euros. A large part of the fund is reserved for follow-up rounds in order to accompany the respective start-ups until at least Series B.
