NRW.BANK invests in iDEL Therapeutics

The development bank NRW.BANK has invested EUR 3.5 million in the biotechnology start-up iDEL Therapeutics via its venture capital fund NRW.Venture. The investment is part of a seed financing round in which the company has raised a total of EUR 9 million. The lead investor is BioMedVC. Other investors are Gründerfonds Ruhr and KHAN Technology Transfer Fund II.

Focus on new cancer therapies

iDEL Therapeutics is developing a new approach to improve cancer therapies. The aim is to increase the effectiveness of treatments while reducing side effects.

The focus is on a so-called drug delivery system, i.e. a technology for the targeted transport of active substances in the body.

Targeted transport of active ingredients

The technology from iDEL Therapeutics transports active ingredients directly into cancer cells. Healthy cells are largely spared in the process.

This approach can help to make therapies more precise and reduce the burden on patients.

Structure and next steps

The company was founded in September 2025 and is based in Dortmund at the Biomedicine Center.

iDEL Therapeutics intends to use the fresh capital to further develop its technology and create the conditions for clinical evaluation.

NRW.BANK's investment is part of the strategy to promote innovation in the life sciences sector in North Rhine-Westphalia and to further strengthen the location.
