NRW launches funding program for edtechs

The Edtech Next project aims to support startups that want to transform the education sector and make it more digital.
The Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia is launching the Edtech Next project together with the Founders Foundation and EDUvation from Bielefeld. The aim of this is to support start-ups in NRW. To this end, the state is investing three million euros over a period of three years.
As part of the project, edtech founders will be supported in implementing their ideas with a special program over a period of up to twelve months. In the process, education experts as well as entrepreneurs will accompany the start-ups. Dominik Gross, CEO of the Founders Foundation, wants to use the program to rethink education and make it more future-proof. "For us, it is clear that entrepreneurial thinking and action are the key to a sustainable digital future - also in the education market," says Gross.
Economics and Innovation Minister Andreas Pinkwart sees education as a decisive success factor for the future of NRW as a business location. "Startups are making an important contribution to digitization in the education sector here with their unconventional approaches and high speed of innovation," says Pinkwart.
