OKTAV brings Schott Music on board

The Austrian music start-up OKTAV is entering into a strategic partnership with Schott Music, a German music publisher. With this step, Schott expands its digital portfolio, while OKTAV expands its platform oktav.com and the associated apps. A further step for digital music-making.
From start-up to international platform
Founded in Linz in 2018, OKTAV has quickly established itself as a platform for digital sheet music and e-learning on the piano. With a subscription-based model that already includes over 20,000 licensed arrangements, the company is now one of the most important digital providers in the music sector.
We build a bridge between music culture and digital innovation
David Kitzmüller, Co-Founder and CEO OKTAV
With the investment of Schott Music in July 2025, OKTAV gains a strong partner to expand its offering to other instruments in the future.
Added value for music fans and learners
The cooperation brings visible benefits:
- Expanded range of sheet music: Schott's repertoire complements the OKTAV library.
- Interactive learning: video courses and tutorials become more diverse thanks to Schott's expertise.
- Personalization through AI: Recommendation systems provide individual learning paths.
- Flexible use: subscriptions such as OKTAV Playing or OKTAV Learning offer mobile availability and a print option.
Schott Music as a digital partner
The collaboration is a strategic step for Schott Music.
It allows us to reach a target group that appreciates digital offerings - and make music learning more widely accessible.
Robert Schäfer, Chief Digital Officer Schott
For start-ups, the cooperation is a prime example of how digital innovation and traditional industry players can benefit from each other. While Schott Music represents 250 years of publishing history, OKTAV focuses on scalable SaaS models and technology-driven growth.
