PlannerAI raises seed funding

The start-up wants to fight food waste with artificial intelligence.
The start-up PlanerAI has received seven-figure funding in its seed round. The company did not disclose the exact amount. The capital comes from
Earlybird UNI-X, Delivery Hero CTO Christian von Hardenberg and Innowerft.
Franz Seubert, Jan Meller and Fabian Taigel founded the startup in February 2021. They have developed an AI-based planning platform for food manufacturers. The aim is to predict how many quantities will be sold in food retailers in the coming days. "We enable suppliers to plan precisely and deliver only the quantities to retailers that will actually be sold that day," Seubert says. In doing so, the AI takes into account data such as the weather, regional events, promotions or vacations in its calculations, he adds. The prediction could help manufacturers save costs and time, as well as avoid wasting food.
"With our technology, we are solving a massive social problem of our time," Seubert said. The startup says it has already optimized more than two million orders of baked goods with its BäckerAI technology. Now the company wants to focus on other food products as well. "Because with the counters full of fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and the filled smoothie and fresh convenience products, we still have a lot to do," Taigel says.
