PlannerAI raises seed funding

The start-up wants to use artificial intelligence to combat food waste.
The start-up PlanerAI has received seven-figure funding in its seed round. The company did not disclose the exact amount. The capital comes from
Earlybird UNI-X, Delivery Hero CTO Christian von Hardenberg and Innowerft.
Franz Seubert, Jan Meller and Fabian Taigel founded the start-up in February 2021. They have developed an AI-based planning platform for food manufacturers. The aim is to predict how many quantities will be sold in food retailers over the next few days. "We enable suppliers to plan precisely and only deliver the quantities to retailers that will actually be sold on that day," says Seubert. The AI takes into account data such as the weather, regional events, promotions and vacations in its calculations. The prediction could help manufacturers save costs and time and avoid wasting food.
"With our technology, we are solving a massive social problem of our time," says Seubert. According to the start-up, it has already optimized more than two million orders of baked goods with its BäckerAI technology. The company now wants to focus on other food products too. "Because with counters full of fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and filled smoothie and fresh convenience products, we still have a lot of work to do," says Taigel.
