AfrikaBerlin" project launched

Over the next two years, Berlin wants to promote cooperation between start-ups from the German capital and certain countries on the African continent.
The start-up scene is currently discovering the potential of the African continent, as demonstrated by Ndiarka Mbodji and her start-up Kowry Energy. The state of Berlin is now specifically promoting the exchange between African and Berlin start-ups with the AfrikaBerlin project, which is being managed by the NGO Enpact for two years. Enpact is working closely with the talent and start-up teams of the Berlin Partner business development agency. The costs are borne by the state of Berlin, which aims to use the program to support small and medium-sized start-ups in their expansion.
"Africa has a booming start-up scene. Our AfrikaBerlin project is a great opportunity for Berlin start-ups to tap into new markets, enter into sustainable collaborations and at the same time contribute to the economic development of the partner regions," says Ramona Pop, the Senator responsible for economic affairs. The project has selected Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa for potential partnerships, with the main focus on cooperation in the fintech, SaaS, IoT, energy, agrifood and mobility sectors and the sharing economy. The program will offer online seminars, workshops, participation in trade fairs, image presentations and travel.
