Qunomedical acquires a stake in Medical One

Qunomedical and the Dutch hospital group Bergman Clinics take over Medical One. The parties are not disclosing the sum involved.

In May 2020, the start-up Medical One filed for insolvency, followed by its parent company Medidate in June. At least Medical One can now breathe a sigh of relief: Qunomedical, a platform for brokering doctor visits, is acquiring the start-up together with the Dutch clinic association Bergman Clinics.

Qunomedical will take over the digital management of patients, while the clinic association Bergman Clinics will take care of the clinical operations in the future. Nothing is known about the sale amount.

Through Qunomedical's platform, patients can search for doctors at home and abroad. With more choice, customers should be able to save money or get better treatment, the start-up advertises. "Our goal is to provide all Patient:ins with the best possible medical care worldwide," says Sophie Chung, who founded Qunomedical in 2015. "In this regard, the acquisition of Medical One is an important step to further strengthen our position in Germany," Chung adds.

The Medical One clinic group offers plastic surgery treatments at twelve locations in Germany. The acquisition by Bergmann Clinics fits the expansion course of the company, which has been buying up other companies in Scandinavia for some time and in Germany since last year. "The German market is strategically very important for us," says Martijn Hartman, chief financial officer of Bergman Germany.
