Danish DefenseTech startup Shotling, specializing in short-range kinetic anti-drone systems (C-UAS), has closed a €700,000 pre-seed funding round. According to media reports, the round is led by Myriad Defense Fund, supported by IPO CLUB Fund II America 2030 and a non-dilutive promotional loan from the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO).

Focus on FPV drones and loitering munitions

Shotling is developing an electrically powered rotary-style weapon system that destroys FPV drones and loitering munitions with a high fragmentation effect. The modular system is designed for use on mobile and stationary units, achieves firing rates of up to 3,000 rounds per minute and allows over 30 engagements before reloading is necessary. The system works with standard or tungsten 12-gauge ammunition and offers unrestricted elevation over 90° to hit even steep vertical targets.

Economy and safety

With a cost-benefit ratio of better than 1:10 against inexpensive FPV drones, Shotling offers both economic efficiency and a short safety range that allows it to be used on closely positioned units. The system can be flexibly integrated: as the primary armament of small Remote Weapon Stations (RWS), as a secondary system on larger platforms or manually on tripods, ring mounts and vehicles such as 4x4s and ISVs.

Shotling's concept was selected as one of nine finalists out of 162 submissions for the 16th NATO Innovation Challenge 2025 in Tallinn. In addition, the company received support from Ukrainian frontline units and defense companies, although details are not public.

Strategic relevance in the European and global context

With the increasing threat of kamikaze drones and FPV systems, Shotling is positioning itself in the growing global C-UAS market, which is estimated to be worth USD 10 billion by 2030. The company joins a number of European defense tech startups that have raised capital for autonomous and unmanned systems in 2025, including Monopulse, Orbotix, Rift and Fuvex.
