The Leipzig-based venture capital fund Smart Infrastructure Ventures has officially launched its second early-stage fund SIVentures II. Following the successful first fund with two exits and numerous portfolio start-ups, the team is now entering the next round with a target volume of EUR 30 million and has already raised over 75% of the total.

Two exits strengthen investor confidence

The success of the first fund plays a key role in fundraising: two early exits, including the sale of the Leipzig-based digital health start-up mementor to the US medical technology group ResMed (we reported), have strengthened investor confidence. Other portfolio companies such as Enginsight (cybersecurity) and traide AI (customs automation) demonstrate the breadth of content.

The portfolio of the first fund created more than 300 jobs in Germany. The number of jobs created is rarely mentioned by VCs and is a very positive example for the German economy.

Focus on early-stage B2B tech

SIVentures II invests specifically in pre-seed and seed start-ups from the DACH region, primarily in the fields of artificial intelligence, IT infrastructure, energy and industrial software. Up to €500,000 is available for initial investments.

Since the beginning of 2025, the new fund has already realized four investments, while further due diligence processes are underway.

Close connection to the SpinLab Accelerator

A unique selling point remains the close cooperation with SpinLab - The HHL Accelerator, one of the most renowned startup programs in Germany. This gives the fund fast access to innovations, talent and partners.

As an active investor, we offer not only capital, but also in-depth sparring.

Björn Bauermeister, Managing Director SIVentures

Experienced team with VC and founder DNA

The SIVentures team has over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship, venture capital and capital markets. The leadership duo Björn Bauermeister (former trader at BNP Paribas) and Dirk Frohnert (former fund manager at JPMorgan) is complemented by entrepreneur and investment manager Falk Trietsch.

Despite the successful fundraising, the fund is still open to new LPs. Corporate investors, family offices and funds of funds with a strategic interest in early-stage tech from the DACH region are particularly in demand. We recently reported on Smart Infrastructure Ventures in connection with the expanded seed of mogenius.
