4 million euros for AI in the restaurant industry. SOUS expands growth platform for restaurants.
News by Marc Nemitz Marc Nemitz · Amsterdam, 26. March 2026

The Dutch start-up SOUS has closed a seed financing round of 4 million euros. The round was led by seed + speed Ventures. Other investors include PeakBridge, āltitude, Gekko Capital and several angel investors.

The company intends to use the capital to further develop its AI platform, expand its teams and drive forward its expansion in Europe, particularly in Germany.

AI as a growth driver for restaurants

SOUS is developing a holistic platform that supports restaurants along the entire value chain, from customer acquisition to transactions and long-term customer loyalty.

The focus is on AI agents that work continuously in the background and automate key business processes. These include optimizing online visibility, increasing visitor numbers and automating marketing and customer communication.

Fragmented systems as a key challenge

The restaurant industry is undergoing a structural change: customer interactions are increasingly shifting to digital channels such as search engines, maps, social networks and AI-supported platforms.

However, many restaurants continue to work with fragmented tools and are heavily dependent on third-party providers that both control data and collect commissions. SOUS addresses this by providing an integrated solution that puts restaurants in control of their customer data.

New sources of revenue through digital infrastructure

In addition to traditional table reservations, the platform opens up additional sources of revenue. Restaurants can integrate takeaway offers, retail products, experiences or subscription models, among other things. A practical example shows the potential: a restaurant in Eindhoven was able to significantly increase its online sales after introducing the platform.

Partnerships strengthen market penetration

Partnerships with established technology providers in the industry are an important part of the growth strategy. These include Zenchef, one of the leading reservation systems in Europe.

The integration enables restaurants to increase their visibility and at the same time generate more bookings via existing systems. The aim is to establish an additional level of growth in the existing restaurant technology stack.

Expansion in Germany and Europe

With the new financing, SOUS plans to expand its activities in Europe. Germany is at the center of the expansion, as there is a growing demand for digital solutions for the food service industry here.

In the long term, the company is positioning itself as a central growth platform for restaurants that want to become less dependent on third-party platforms and expand their digital business models. The question is, of course, how far automation can go before the customer experience is disrupted. There is certainly a lot to be said for personal preference, but personal interaction with the restaurant is and remains a decisive criterion.
