SPRK opens Deli in Berlin

The impact start-up SPRK is constantly trying to find new ways to reuse its rescued food: now it is opening its first deli in Berlin.
The impact start-up SPRK is opening its first deli in Berlin-Schöneberg. It offers drinks and dishes made from rescued food. According to the Berlin start-up, it uses artificial intelligence to identify surplus food from suppliers and warehouses in the supply chain. In one step, the start-up collects it and reuses it, for example as a donation, for restaurateurs and canteens or now in its own store.
The Deli is to be the first in a series of stores, and other distribution channels for the collected food are also being planned, the start-up writes. SPRK aims to reduce food surpluses in the supply chain as far as possible.
"With the Deli, we are giving Berliners the opportunity to taste sustainable dishes and products - a unique concept to date," says Alexander Piutti, who founded the start-up in 2020. Berlin is delighted with the Deli: "The SPRK team was one of the first impactpreneurs to question cycles and take the initiative against indifference," says Stefan Franzke, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Berlin Partner, commenting on the project.
