Steuerboard secures 725,000 euros in pre-seed round

The Düsseldorf-based B2B SaaS startup Steuerboard has closed a pre-seed financing round of 725,000 euros. The lead investor is High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF). The SuperAngels Fund and serial entrepreneur Roland Fassauer are also involved. The aim of the round is to accelerate product development and drive market expansion in Germany.

Using AI to combat the shortage of specialists in tax consulting

Founded in July 2023 by Matyas Heins (29) and Jakob Brandt (28), Steuerboard addresses one of the most pressing bottlenecks in the tax industry: a shortage of staff combined with growing complexity.

Thanks to this investment, we can rapidly develop features that save tax firms time and provide a seamless, transparent experience for their clients.

The platform relies on agent-based AI to automate routine tasks, put an end to tedious email ping-pong and create more transparency in the day-to-day work of law firms. Steuerboard integrates seamlessly into existing systems and enables central data management, smart task routing and automated client communication.

A billion-euro market for tax tech in Germany

The global market for tax software was estimated at 18.5 billion US dollars in 2023, with expected annual growth of around 10% until 2030. In Europe alone, the tax management software segment generated sales of around 4.34 billion euros (source: Grand View Research).

With a market share of around 30%, Germany is the largest single market in Europe. This means an annual potential of over 1.3 billion euros for digital solutions such as Steuerboard.

Strong momentum in the market

Since its market launch, Steuerboard has already gained around 100 law firms as customers, from smaller offices to large units with several hundred employees. The platform thus indirectly supports thousands of companies every month.

Business angel Roland Fassauer, himself a successful serial founder in the software sector, is also contributing not only capital but also strategic expertise in product development and scaling.

Scaling & AI workflows

With the new capital, Steuerboard plans to expand its engineering and customer success team, accelerate the development of advanced AI workflows and scale sales in the DACH region. Over the next 24 months, the company aims to redefine automation in tax by establishing end-to-end, intelligent workflows that actively anticipate the needs of tax advisors and clients.

From a business perspective, it would be welcome if the political side would also take action. Crippling bureaucracy is one of the main issues facing the German economy and all tax-related processes are part of this.
